HAPPY 2005!!

Rang in the new year quietly. Matthew and I went out to pick up a bottle of champagne and then curled up with Hobkin to watch Spider-Man 2 and Resident Evil: Apocalypse a la Netflix. I discovered that I can watch zombie flicks if they're action instead of horror (I've got major squicks when it comes to shambling undead). And at 11:30 we turned on the Peach Drop coverage in Underground ATL, poured the bubbly, and clinked in the new year.

Spider-Man 2 was exceptionally uninspiring. The action bits were good, but anything involving character development got tedious fast. Resident Evil: Apocalypse was better, all shiny and shoot-em-up. Although it really felt like a video game. I drank far more champagne than I ought to--I'm a total lightweight; two glasses does me in. All in all, a good way to end 2004.

Writing Stuff:

Saw a review of The 3rd Alternative #40 at Emerald City which highlighted my story to praise. An auspicious beginning for 2005:

"My favorite story, however, was "Running on Two Legs" by Eugie Foster . . . it was interestingly cute, and it has a refreshingly sanguine view of serious illness."

Happy New Year. Eugie and Matt:)!! We watched the Peach Drop also.

Didn't they show Shaun of the Dead at D*C? There was some hoopla about it from what I rememeber.

BTW, I have the first Daily Dragon toon in the works. It's best to start early:) Are there going to be any DD meetings or something pre-con? If so, let me know.

I think they did, although if so, I didn't go, still being Leery With Extreme Prejudice (TM) of all zombie flicks at the time.

Zounds. You're going to strain something!

"Are there going to be any DD meetings or something pre-con?"

Yepper. Check out the Dragon*Con.org website. The first all staff meeting is March 5th. Hope to see you there!

Is there some place to buy TTA 40 on the web? I haven't found any place in LA that seems to carry it.

Yeah, it's hard to find in the U.S. You can buy a copy of it online from the Andromeda Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror Bookshop (in the UK). Also, Project Pulp will carry it, but it hasn't posted the current issue on their website yet. They only have up to issue #39, but I suspect #40 will go up in the next few weeks.

Hmm. I've seen Spiderman #1 movie and I like it. Guess on the 2nd one they have that octopus man, and it does look like an animated cartoon from that commercial. So you think #1 is better than #2?

I liked 1 better than 2, although I think the EFX in 2 were probably smoother than in 1. Actually I think the Doc Ock character was one of the strengths in the sequel.

It could be they have two different directors? Just like in Charlie's Angels. No. 1 is better than #2. That's because they have different directors in the movie. I think the #1 movie is classy and the # 2 movie is trashy!
